It a curious inscription, not easily comprehended. John Cunningham was the grandson of James Cunningham and Elizabeth Blair: Elizabeth being the sister of Rebecca (Blair) Hyndman.
Samuel and Rebecca were married in Ballywildrick in 1833 and immigrated to Mauch Chunk in 1839. Rebecca's sister Elizabeth (Blair) Cunningham and her husband remained in Ireland but their son John Cunningham, with his bride, arrived in Baltimore in November of 1851, most likely carrying the Bible with him. The Cunninghams were known to be in Mauch Chunk in 1852 when the Bible was most likely given to his wife's brother-in-law, Samuel Hyndman.
