41. Laird Barber

Laird H. Barber was a political big-wig here in Carbon Co. from the late 1800s and into the early 1900s. Lawyer, Judge, US Congressman with a lot of powerful connections, including the Packer family. I'm not sure why his photo would be in this collection. (Jack Sterling) Since most of the photographs in this album date from 1860 to 1870, Laird Barber was not such a bigwig until later. His was superintendent of the Mauch Chuch schools from 1875 to 1880 and admitted to the bar in 1881. His political career was later. More information about Laird H. Barber from Wikipedia.
